With this timed write paragraph, the class was given a day to write an outline and sythesize textual evidence. I utilized outside sources as part of my textual evidence since the novel Of Mice and Men was rooted in the era of the Great Depression. Using actual facts to support my argument made it much stronger. Outside research has allowed me to further inquire about topics discussed in the classroom and taught me that there is so much more to learn than what is taught in class. It has taught me to inquire further and if something in class interests me and I want to learn more about it, there are plenty of outside sources for me to learn a few things from. While I used outside research for this paragraph, I quickly learned that there are many viewpoints on different subjects and it is necessary to filter and scan each website quickly to find the kind of evidence desired. I feel that being able to practice the skill of using outside research now is very important in being more prepared for colleges and careers, and I am glad that I have learned this now and have the opportunity to practice that skill.
